STRATHNAIRN ARTS ASSOCIATION

Strathnairn Arts is a not-for-profit arts association supported by the ACT Government providingworking spaces and facilities for a range of Artists, crafts people and community groups. Strathnairn Arts has been used by Artists for decades and continues to attract new audiences and Artists from not only the burgeoning West Belconnen communities but from the wider ACT region and beyond.

Background

Boasting stunning views of the Brindabella Mountains and sitting on 9.5 hectares on the north-western outskirts of Canberra, Strathnairn Arts embraces Galleries, SHOP, Café Stepping Stone, Artist studios, ceramic kilns, a Foundry, the Woolshed Gallery, the Village Hall and a recently refurbished Artist-in-Residence accommodation and studio. Through membership of Strathnairn Arts or simply just visiting, Artists and the wider ACT community and visitors to our national capital have access to this thriving and vital creative community.

Strathnairn Arts is a strong community of Artists working across diverse mediums. The Strathnairn Homestead Galleries have an annual program of diverse exhibitions from local and interstate Artists featuring a range of mediums traversing the wonderful variety of the visual arts spectrum. Also located within the Homestead is SHOP which displays and sells a range of handmade works by local and interstate Artists. Strathnairn Arts hosts and support the popular Social Enterprise Café Stepping Stone, whose program of hiring and training migrant women provides excellent bases for future employment opportunities.

A full and vibrant program of exhibitions runs throughout the year including an Annual Members Exhibition, showcasing the work of members, and other exhibitions showcasing the creative activities of Artists from the ACT and elsewhere.
